Be a part of the ultimate BBQ showdown as two legendary pitmasters, Rodney Scott and Chris Shepherd, battle it out in Houston on February 9th!

Cardmembers will get a front-row seat to this epic battle and enjoy some of the best BBQ in the country. Beginning the evening with drinks and some of Feges BBQ’s delicious appetizers, guests will have the chance to warm up their appetites before being introduced to Chef Scott and Chef Shepherd who will explain what dishes they will be cooking up for dinner. Once the BBQ cookoff begins, guests will be able to watch the masters at work, learn about their techniques, and taste all of their creations before voting on who they think should win the award for the ultimate BBQ pitmaster. Cardmembers will then have the opportunity for a photo opportunity with both chefs before they pick up a specially curated gift bag to wrap up the night.  

Rodney Scott has been cooking whole-hog barbecue, over wood coals burned down from hardwood, since he was in middle school. For the next 25 years he worked with his family in their BBQ stop in Hemingway, SC until 2017 when he partnered with the Pihakis Group—including chef Paul Yeck and seasoned restaurateur, Nick Pihakis—to open Rodney Scott’s BBQ in the North Central neighborhood of Charleston, SC. In their very first year of operation the restaurant was named one the 50 Best New Restaurants by Bon Appetit Magazine and in 2018, Rodney Scott was awarded the James Beard Foundation’s award for Outstanding Chef Southeast. He has been featured on popular television shows such as Chef's Table: BBQ, Beat Bobby Flay, Today, and Good Morning America and is a judge on Food Network's BBQ Brawl.

Midwest-raised, James Beard Award-winning Chef Chris Shepherd has helped change the landscape of the Houston culinary scene since opening Underbelly in 2012. He built the restaurant to support the Houston food community and its suppliers by buying local and drawing inspiration from the people and cultures that live in the city. Thanks to Chris’ vision and passion, Underbelly was a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best New Restaurant, was named one of the best new restaurants in the country by Bon Appetit and Esquire and was named one of 38 essential restaurants in America by Eater. Chris was named one of the 10 Best New Chefs in America by Food & Wine in 2013 and was then awarded the 2014 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest. Chris was a semifinalist for the James Beard Award for Outstanding Chef in 2019 and was named Robb Report‘s Chef of the Year the same year. Chris’ foundation Southern Smoke has distributed more than $10 million directly to people in the food and beverage industry in need via the Emergency Relief Fund.

Erin Smith opened Feges BBQ with her husband Patrick Feges in March 2018. With their combined fine dining experience and Patrick’s barbecue expertise, Feges BBQ offers a new approach to barbecue combining traditional flavors and modern interpretations of classics.
