Charleston, the “South Carolina port city” founded in 1670, is defined by rich history, flavors, cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages, pastel antebellum houses and musical sounds.
This special weekend package includes two nights of hotel accommodations at the Belmond Hotel where timeless elegance meets southern charm. The weekend will begin on Friday with a welcome reception at the Belmond followed by a nostalgic horse drawn carriage tour of Charleston. The tour will end at the Edmondston Alston House for a private southern inspired dinner on the Piazza. Constructed in 1825 this is the only house museum in Charleston that commands a magnificent view of Charleston Harbor.
On Saturday, following breakfast guests will be transported back-in-time to Boone Hall Plantation. Constructed in 1681, the plantation remains one of America’s oldest continuously working farms. Following a private tour guests may continue to explore on their own. A casual lunch will be provided with a special Gullah cultural performance. Boone Hall Plantation is the only one of its kind in the South Carolina Lowcountry to present a live program of this unique culture adapted by African slaves. Guests may enjoy leisure time in the afternoon to explore Charleston on their own.
Saturday evening during a private reception guests will visit the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, a U.S. historic landmark where President George Washington was entertained, and the Constitution was ratified. The Old Exchange building is one of only four structures remaining in the U.S. where the nation’s founding document was originally ratified.
Following the reception guests will be transported to The Macintosh restaurant where celebrated chef Jeremiah Bacon will host a private four-course wine paired dinner. Known for his innovative, new American cuisine Chef Bacon is also a multiple time James Beard nominee.
This timeless southern charm weekend will close on Sunday morning with a private jazz brunch at the Belmond Hotel’s Charleston Grill.
